Would You Rather? Kirstie Alley Sex Or Carrot Top Sex

Would You Rather Sleep In A Twin Size Bed With Kirstie Alley
Or A King Size Bed With Carrot top?

First of all, I wouldn't want to sleep with myself in a twin size bed, but it is an interesting question if we're talking about Rebecca Howe from "Cheers." But we're not, we're talking about present day Kirstie Alley competing with what sounds like a pretty fun time. So I choose the Ginger Prince. Just think about how many props he could fit in a king size bed. Plus, if you go Eastern King, it's wide enough where you could use the props like masking tape to set boundaries.

Remember, Eastern King mattresses are wider and Cal Kings are longer so fatties to the East and daddy long legs to the West. I made the mistake of buying Cal King so be sure to know the difference when making your purchase.

And don't forget to check back every Friday for another round of "Would You Rather?" And let us know how to make love to Betty White.

5 On The Dime

Every Wednesday, I'll bring you 5 quick, fun and budget friendly ways to jazz up your place so make sure to come back. In today's post, I'm going to show you how to spruce up your pad with plants that are affordable.

1. The Corn Plant
This is my personal favorite. I have had one of these plants in every place I have lived in. They do well in low light conditions and need very little loving.

2. The Braided Ficus
Needs persistent and consistent watering to prevent the beautiful dark green leaves from falling.

3. The Bonsai
Go Karate Kid old school and grab one from these great local nurseries.

4. The Pony Tail Palm

Needs lots and lots of light and can grow up to 6 feet! Best part is it can go over a year without needing watering.

5. Chinese Evergreen
Very strong silvery gray and dark green leaves. This plant needs low light. Make sure you allow the soil to fully dry between watering's.

Put the plant in a pot and watch it grow! Places like Osh and Home Depot have good prices on both plants and pots.

I'm So Lucited!

Acrylic or what most people refer to as Lucite or Plexiglass is becoming very popular in furniture again. The revival could be mostly credited to Philippe Starck's ghost chair a reinvention of the famous Louis XV arm chair. You can find some great knock-offs of this chair at places like IKEA but if you want the real thing click here. Lucite is a fun, fresh, and now affordable way to decorate your house. From dining chairs to coffee tables it creates a lighter and warmer look. You can find these great nesting tables seen above at CB2.

Would You Rather? How To Make Love To Betty White

Would You Rather Make Out With Betty White
On A Leather Sofa Or A Fabric Sofa?

Wow, that's a tough one...not the making out with Betty White part, that's easy. But what type of couch gets you to the bedroom quicker - that's a little harder.

Personally, I think you have a better job of closing the deal if you have the leather sofa because it's more swanky and stylish. However, there are also a few pitfalls with leather, including sounds that aren't acceptable until date #3, slippage, and sweat.

At the end of the day, I'm not so sure it's worth the expensive leather when the fabric sofa is so much more comfortable to mess around on.

So for this "would you rather," the Guy In 2A votes fabric. But what's your vote?

Check back every Friday for another round of "Would You Rather"

Check-Out These Unique Accessories For Your Home

You don't need to spend a ton of money to give your apartment an updated look. All you have to is be a little creative using any of the following items and your place will instantly look refreshed.

1. Globes Are Cool

And so are the Globetrotters & the Golden Globes. Seriously though, I have always been drawn to globes and round objects which are both good feng-shui in any room. Globes can be tough to find so click here for some of my favorites.

2. Kaleidoscopes Are Rad!

Everyone digs kaleidoscopes and they're a great conversation piece too. And if you still party a little they can be really fun!!!!!!!! Display them on your coffee table or nightstand and check some of my favorites out here.

3. Candle Holders

This is such an easy and inexpensive way to add some color to your place. Candles are also a must-have to either set the mood, or to kill the odor. Either way, you're always safe with a Vanilla scented one.

4. Flowers In A Vase

It cracks me up to see people displaying vases with nothing in them. So here's a little tip...you can pick up great looking flowers on a budget at Trader Joe's. Flowers make people smile.

5. Ashtrays

Now by no means am I advocating smoking. However, a cool glass blown ashtray is kinda bad ass. You can throw coins in them, potpourri, or like Grandma did, fill it with candy.

To Mount It Or To Missionary It????

The Plasma/LCD TV has forever changed the way we watch television and, more importantly, it has forever changed how we display our new TV's. The days of just sticking your television in an armoire or on some awful oak entertainment center are over. Now we must make tough decisions- choices more important than LCD or Plasma! I'm talking real life issues, like: do I mount it on the wall or buy a TV Stand? Here's the general rule on mounting: if you don't get it professionally done (so all the wires and cords are hidden inside the wall), you should use a stand. Quite frankly, I am still a traditionalist who believes a TV should sit rather then float and I hate the way the cords can be seen when someone mounts one to a wall. And, yes, I know there are all these innovative ways to hide all those wires, from buying colored tubing to putting a funky vase in front of them, but I think it still looks better on a stand- there are so many cool TV stands in the marketplace now! Plus, TV's are so thin you can also rest them on some very unique consoles and sofa tables that were traditionally meant for different purposes.

Books Are Cool Even If You Don't Know How To Read

*TIP* - Take the paper covers off of them. The book will look far more intriguing and tempt your guest even more to pick it up and thumb thru it.

An easy inexpensive way to make your place look good is to buy a killer coffee table book. You can find some really neat ones locally at Fred Segal in their home department, Hennessey+Ingalls, & TASCHEN. It really doesn't matter what the book is about as long as you enjoy it. You can find great books on everything from travel, architecture, furniture, Hendrix, Warhol, & the Kennedy's. The bigger the book the better! Don't be restricted to just displaying them on your coffee table either. They also look awesome on consoles, counter tops, nightstands, & of course on bookcases.

IKEA > Everyone Needs Boundaries

IKEA has been referred to as the Forever 21 of the furniture world. You know what I mean, “like I am probably too old for this but perhaps I can rock it one more time.” Well no worries, I have set-up for you the ultimate breakdown of age appropriate items you may buy at IKEA.

18-24yr olds - You have a free pass, IKEA should be your super market sweep of all your apartment needs. Whether you are buying for your dorm room or your first apartment, all IKEA all the time is OK.

25-29yr olds - You're probably in your second or third apt by now and most everything you own is already from IKEA, so now is the time to start shedding off some off those IKEA layers, you are almost a grown-up! Kitchenware, bathware, and bookcases are acceptable purchases.

30-34yr olds - This is when you need to realize the end of an era is upon you. You are getting too old for this stuff. Absolutely no furniture from IKEA is acceptable. Ok, fine./.the only exceptions are in spare rooms or home offices. You may still purchase: shower curtains, drapes, kitchen utensils, and seasonal kitchy items.

35-39yr olds - Hey, times are tough in today’s economic world so I am giving you a mulligan here. However, you must make certain that there is no sign of any sticker that says IKEA, or if I see an IKEA ALLEN WRENCH (as seen above) anywhere in your home we are no longer friends!

40 and over
- At this point in your life you have only two reasons you are at IKEA. 1. You are buying bunkbeds for your kids or 2. You are eating those amazing Swedish meatballs from their cafeteria.

Click-Clack And You Don't Stop To The Click-Clack And You Don't Stop

If you haven't figured it out yet, the futon is dead. So if you are sitting on one now while reading this, it's time to replace it. Today, its all about the click-clack! Think of it as futon-4G. It's highly functional, super stylish, and way more comfortable like this one.

The days of throwing out your back while trying to fold that insanely heavy wood frame are long gone. You no longer need to decide between a 6 or 8 inch mattress pad, nor do you need to buy some horrible futon cover that looks like the tapestry you bought at your first Phish show. With the new click-clack version, the mattress is built right into the frame and the mechanism to fold it just takes a click and a clack.

To find some great looking inexpensive ones, see IKEA.

Why White Glove Delivery Feels More Like A Latex Glove

Because you are about to get screwed! The e-commerce sites that offer you Free Delivery are the biggest racket on the Internet. "Free" shipping of your new dining room table and chairs actually means, "our truck will be waiting for you on the street so you can unload it yourself. BUT as a courtesy to you, we will extend a white glove service for an additional charge." Below is an actual break-down of "free" delivery charges from a very large e-commerce furniture dealer. Their definition of "FREE" will surprise you.

Standard Delivery: FREE!
Your new furniture will be delivered and brought to your front door (or building entrance).

*For apartment residents, the delivery will be brought to either the apartment loading dock, or the nearest ground level entry of the apartment building. Depending on the apartment building, some deliveries must be left at the apartments main office.

White Glove Gold In-Home: $99

Your new furniture will be brought into your home, unpacked and set up in your room of choice. Includes up to 1/2 hour of minor assembly, and up to 1 flight of stairs. Any additional arrangements are subject to charge by the delivery agent. The packaging materials will also be removed and discarded on your behalf.

White Glove Platinum In-Home: $199
Your new furniture will be brought into your home, unpacked and set up in your room of choice. Includes 1 hour of minor assembly, and up to 1 flight of stairs. Any additional arrangements are subject to charge by the delivery agent. The packaging materials will also be removed and discarded on your behalf.

White Glove Platinum Plus In-Home: $399

Your new furniture will be brought into your home, unpacked and set up in your room of choice. Includes up to 3 hours of assembly, and up to 1 flight of stairs. Any additional arrangements are subject to charge by the delivery agent. The packaging materials will also be removed and discarded on your behalf.

So my point is, while you may be able to find that great dining set online for just $599 and think you are getting a great deal, the truth is you're not! If you bought it locally you would be charged a nominal delivery fee which would include set-up. If you want to avoid a delivery fee altogether, you can pick it up yourself rather than wait 4-6 weeks just to get it brought into your apartment!

Finally Some Cool Funiture Stores To Cater To All Of Those Downtown Lofts

For the past several years I have been hearing all about the loft living boom going on in downtown L.A. and all the cool new places to check out . The city is bustling again with L.A. Live, the many new art galleries, and tons of new bars and restaurants. I decided to check out what all the buzz was about, primarily seeking out the new furniture stores that I heard about. So I left my Hollywood comfort zone, got on the Metro and rode the red line. I was in search of two stores (SUB)URBAN and Isquared. I quickly and easily found them both and they were just a few block walk from one another.

My first stop was at Isquared, an urban boutique spin-off from their mother company interior illusions. I totally digged a lot of stuff there, especially this Wall Mounted Desk, seen above. The place had a lot of really great items, however, I was the only person in the store for about 35 minutes and the kid behind the counter didn't look up from his computer once not even to say hi. Listen I'm not a fan of the annoying salesman following you around the store however a little common courtesy is always nice. I have worked a retail floor myself and if I was the owner I would of thrown that kid through the beautiful glass window the store corners on W7th/Spring St.

I then ventured to (SUB)URBAN a very unique and friendly environment with some very interesting furniture and accessories. This place was a lot more out of the box mixing some conventional styles with their own local artist spin on them. One of my favorite items was a gold nailrailed chair in this great rusted pumpkin color leather. It was exciting to see that downtown is finally happening.

These stores were far from affordable, however I totally support them because it's part of what downtown L.A. has been missing. I am sure more stores will pop up in the many hip new neighborhoods down there and The guy in 2A will continue to keep you posted.

Glass Top vs. Wood Top

Whether you are shopping for a coffee table or a dining table, the decision between a glass top or wood top depends on the style and decor of your apartment….and perhaps your favorite cleaning product. Is it Windex or Pledge?

A glass top is easy to clean, but that means it actually must be cleaned. If you don't Windex it often every fingerprint and toe print will show. One great thing about a glass top, whether it’s a coffee or dining table is that you really don’t need to use a coaster. If you are leaning towards a glass top, I would recommend a rounded or oval shape one because it will not nearly be as painful when you bump your knee into it. If you prefer Pledge, as far as a wood top is concerned, here are some tips to keep it clean and looking great. Personally, I have both a glass dining and coffee table, it wasn't what I necessarily was searching for, but I hate the lemon “fresh” scent of Pledge…and it looks great!
